Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I'm using AOL and am experiencing problems. What's up?

A: If you're using AOL to visit this site, we highly recommend that you do not use the built-in AOL browser. Instead, download the latest version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer (for Windows or Mac platform). Once you've installed IE, sign on to AOL as you normally do. Then start Internet Explorer to use the internet.

If you don't want to mess with using another browser, please be sure you are using the latest version of AOL software.

Q: When I try to view a streaming video, I get the following message: "Requested file not found. The link you followed may be outdated or inaccurate."

A: If you are trying to run the RealPlayer file from your local disk, you will get this error message. If this is the case, then the error message is in fact correct and the link is outdated as it appears on the browser cache. To view, you need to log in to your butchbear.com account and view the video on-line.

Now, if you are getting this error from your RealPlayer player while viewing the file on-line, I would suggest clearing your local cache and trying again. This often remedies a number of browser related issues. If none of the suggestions contained herein help, please email the following information to tech@butchbear.com:

Platform and OS Version
RealPlayer Version
User ID
Date and Time of Error
IP-address of the session in question (on a WIN box, open a DOS session and run the ipconfig command)

Q: I can't find the free version of RealPlayer. Do I have to buy it?

A: No, you don’t have to buy it. Just follow the RealPlayer link. Halfway down the page on the left-hand side look for: “RealPlayer 8 Basic - is our free player.” It’s not easy to spot, but the free version works fine for Butch Bear Streaming Audio/Visual.
